On the second night of Chanukah a group of JFS students and I made our way to the heart of London’s city district to the offices of Herbert Smith Freehills. We were greeted by a Junior Associate who escorted us up several escalators to a meeting room where there were a number of lawyers eagerly waiting to tuck in to delicious looking doughnuts, and of course speak with our students.
Joshua led the Brachot (blessings) and lit the Chanukah candles. After a tuneful verse of Maotzur students and lawyers were free to mingle and devour the wonderful spread of doughnuts and latkes that were awaiting us.
Several students managed to procure business cards and made useful contacts with representatives of the firm and above all, had a great time. We were complimented on our enthusiasm and the highly engaging manner in which students networked with Associates and we have been invited to come back again next year and do a full tour of the offices.
