Exploring London's Open Spaces

22/10/2013

Our Year 8 Geography group visited the Epping Forest Field Studies Centre to find out more about the ecosystems topic that we are studying in our Geography lessons at present. We were introduced to the history of the forest by specialist teachers at the Centre and learned that the forest is thousands of years old, as well as being the largest area of open space in London.

We investigated two contrasting habitats in the forest, carrying out various tests on the tree height girth and different species, using equipment provided, such as Lux meters and soil thermometers.

It was a great day out, with fun and adventure and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
