Year 13 student, Steven Reingold, hit the headlines this week after playing a key role in preparing English all-rounder, Ben Stokes, for his epic innings of 258 in the Second Test against South Africa in Cape Town.
Steven interrupted a family holiday in South Africa to answer an ‘SOS’ from the England batting coach and Stanmore Cricket Club colleague, Mark Ramprakash. After Stokes was among the top English batsmen dismissed by off-spinner, Dane Piedt during the first Test, it was decided that Steven could assist.
This is not the first time Steven has jumped in to assist in an English practice session and it has certainly encouraged him to consider a future in the game.
Currently Steven plays for the Middlesex under-19s and was part of Great Britain’s silver medal-winning junior cricket squad at the 2013 Maccabiah.
