Mr Appleman (Headteacher) was privileged to be invited to St James’s Palace as a guest of Mr John Copper (JLGB Vice President and JFS Governor) to recognise the achievements of five JFS students.

The students received their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Certificates in the presence of HRH the Earl of Wessex.  We are thrilled that so many of our students participate on this programme annually at all levels.

Three women who attend Jewish Care’s Brenner Community Centre in Stamford Hill celebrated belated Batmitzvahs as part of a JFS Bar/Batmitzvah programme with the Jewish Informal Education Department (JiEP) at JFS.

The inaugural event of the newly formed Parent Fundraising Committee was held last week at the JFS site with 120 happy participants. Parents, grandparents and JFS staff joined together for a fun and enjoyable evening of Bingo in the main hall.

Guests were treated to a wonderful spread of sushi, sandwiches, snacks and drinks to help and nourish through the rounds of Bingo. As well as gifts for the Bingo winners, a generous raffle offered great prizes such as sessions with personal trainers, vouchers for hairdressers, and designer handbags.

The Year 7 Girls netball team represented Brent in the London Youth Games, after winning the Brent tournament back in the autumn term. There were 32 teams from across the capital, played in eight groups made up of four teams in each group.

Students in Year 10 studying Astronomy GCSE had the privilege to speak to Greg Chamitoff, Professor of Aerospace Engineering and former NASA astronaut. The Astronomy students, who have been learning about Science and Astronomy throughout the year, during their lunchtime, sat down and had a Skype call with the astronaut. They had many questions about his preparations before launch, his experience on the International Space Station, his thoughts on the future of space travel and much more.
