In this section of the website you can read about some of the many varied and exciting events that take place at JFS. For a more comprehensive overview, photos and updates please follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

This week in our GiFT ‘Lunch ‘n Do’ club, students met members of the organisation ‘Spread a Smile’. This is a wonderful organisation that arranges for various entertainers to visit children in hospitals such as Great Ormond Street, University College Hospital and The Royal London Hospital. They also organise parties for sick children so they have something to look forward to.

The Brent Year 7 Netball tournament took place recently with 15 JFS Year 7 girls taking part. The B team played a round robin winning their games 8-0, 4-0, 4-0 and 5-0. They did not concede one goal! This led them on to be the winners of the B team tournament.

The whole Year 12 cohort heard a talk and interview with Holocaust survivor, Gabor Lacko. Gabor Lacko was born in Hungary, and although he was ‘lucky’ not to find himself in a concentration or labour camp, he had six trying years in forced labour in various factories, feeling scared for his life the whole time. He lost family, friends and more loved ones in those years than most people experience in their life time.

The JFS Israel society recently welcomed Jonathan Sacerdoti, a spokesperson for Israel who frequently appears on the BBC and Al Jazeera Television network.

Students enjoyed a talk about what Israel has brought to Global Security after which they had the opportunity to ask questions.

In anticipation of the festival of Succot students enjoyed a feel of the JFS Succah and had an opportunity to pop in, either for JS lessons or during break times. Annually arranged by Miss Krieger, Arba Minim were also available for sale to students, at a subsidised price.
