Rabbi Dovid Lau, the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel, visited JFS today during a brief visit to London.


In order to promote National School Sports Week, all PE lessons were modified to encourage new and different sports including some Paralympic sports. Students participated in wheelchair basketball, goal ball, curling, bottia, kabbadi, and handball.


Year 9 students eagerly participated in an exciting Industry Day. The annual event is designed for students to engage in various activities, learning from an expert in their profession and thereby providing the students with a greater understanding of the world of work. Workshops included a florist, a chef, police forensics, engineers, fashion and wallpaper design to name but a few.



NATIONAL SCHOOL SPORTS WEEK (NSSW) – Monday 20 June to Friday 25 June

The PE department have organised a variety of activities for NSSW. Including:

• Olympic and Paralympic sports sessions– Including Wheelchair Basketball • Walk a Mile competition – Win a Fitbit! • Sports Leaders Inclusive training • Climbing lunchtime session • Sports Awards Trip

A group of students led by our new Social Action Coordinator, Jewish Care and GIFT, went to visit an old aged home in order to be more involved with the old people in the Jewish community. They were able to bond in a number of different ways one of which was making cheesecakes for the upcoming chag of Shavuot.
