After several weeks of practice, the annual Year 7 ‘Sing-Off' competition took place recently, with the involvement of the whole Year Group. Each Tutor Group performed a pre-designated song in front of their peers as well as a judging panel. The judges were Dana Kerstein, professional songwriter and vocalist and Ivor Goldberg, a professional musician, frontman of the popular Jewish music group ‘Shir’ and founder of ‘Rock United’. Mrs Padda’s 7WZ1 group were crowned this year’s winners. Well done to the whole Year 7 cohort for taking part.

JFS alumnus David Bogen, delivered a presentation and exciting Taekwon-Do demonstration to Year 10 students. David holds a 6th Dan in the Martial Art of Taekwon-Do and is British Champion and European medallist, trained by another JFS alumnus, Nissan Moradoff.

The JFS African Drumming Ensemble recently performed at the Sinai School Music Festival as part of a fundraising event. The Ensemble has been working hard to build a repertoire of Ghanaian Rhythms over the past year and will be one of many highlights in our Summer Music Concert tonight in the School Theatre. This leads on nicely into the Summer Music Festival commencing next week.

Students in Year 8 managed to reach the Girls U14 Brent Badminton finals recently. The matches played were very close together and all the girls should be proud of their performances having come in 3rd place in the overall U14 competition.

Rabbi Dovid Lau, the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel, visited JFS today during a brief visit to London.
