In this section of the website you can read about some of the many varied and exciting events that take place at JFS. For a more comprehensive overview, photos and updates please follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

We have great pleasure in inviting you to join us for a special reunion tea for JFS Alumni who attended the Jews’ Free School in Bell Lane.

We have recently been contacted independently by some of our Alumni who would like the opportunity to meet with old friends and share memories of their JFS days. We are hopeful that this will be a popular opportunity.

A group of Year 12 students recently travelled to the Royal College of Surgeons for a surgical skills workshop.

They began the day in the Hunterian Museum, where they saw a variety of specimens preserved in jars, including body parts, and foetuses. The next activity was to learn how to suture, taught by volunteer medical students and foundation doctors. This was an interactive session and all the students were able to test their skills on mannequin arms.

Year 12 student, Ben Sugarman, recently competed in the British Drug Free Powerlifting Championships.

His performance gained him first place in his age and weight category and fifth place, out of 18 competitors, in the 75kg class.

The annual GCSE/‘A’ Level Recital Evening took place recently in the theatre. GCSE, ‘AS’ and ‘A2’ Level Music students were given the opportunity to perform their solo and ensemble pieces before a small, intimate gathering of family and friends. They performed a range of repertoire such as Rock, Classical and Heavy Metal. As well as providing an opportunity for parents to attend, the evening also provides students with a chance to perform in front of a small audience before their approaching performance deadlines in a few weeks’ time.

A group of Year 9 students were lucky enough to participate in the Jewish Way of Life Exhibition. Students in Years 3, 4 and 5 from four non-Jewish primary schools came to JFS to learn about Judaism and different aspects of the religion. The Year 9 students prepared a different workshop for the students covering three different aspects of Judaism.
