The whole Year 12 cohort heard a talk and interview with Holocaust survivor, Gabor Lacko.
Gabor Lacko was born in Hungary, and although he was ‘lucky’ not to find himself in a concentration or labour camp, he had six trying years in forced labour in various factories, feeling scared for his life the whole time. He lost family, friends and more loved ones in those years than most people experience in their life time.
Though part of the preparations for half of the Year group going on the trip to Poland, the talk made a profound mark on the students and we all felt extremely privileged to hear him speak and share his story.
Following the Poland trips, Mr Lacko will be generously donating three money prizes to the winners of an essay-styled project, focusing on Jewish life in Eastern Europe.
