Admissions

Minimum GCSE Qualifications for the JFS Sixth Form

A Level Subjects
Six passes at grade B or above are normally required for a 4 'AS' Level programme. A three 'AS' Level programme is possible on fewer than six grade Bs. Normally, candidates must have at least a grade B in the specific subjects they wish to study (or in related subjects if the A level subject is new). Specific course requirements are outlined with the details of all courses we offer in the course booklet enclosed in the back of the prospectus. Students who have not achieved our minimum qualifications will only be admitted to the Sixth form if we believe they will be able to cope successfully with a course/subject programme.

Vocational 'A' Levels

Six passes at grade B or above for Applied Business; five passes at C or above for Art and Design (including a B in Art) and five passes at C or above including Child Development for the CACHE course).

OCR National Level 2 Business Course and GCSE resit package

For the one year intermediate Business level course, we require four passes at C or D including both English Language and Mathematics.

JFS in top 1% for ‘A’ Level Value added

Independent analysis of the 2007 A Level results showed that in a sample of almost 1000 secondary schools in England and Wales, JFS was placed in the top 1% for value-added achievement.

The analysis was undertaken by ALPS (A Level Performance System) which is funded by the Learning and Skills Council. This is the government agency which funds all post 16 and adult education in the country.
