Caring for all our students

Outstanding success in public examinations is vital and JFS achieves this year on year. However, in order to thrive, students must learn in an environment where their overall welfare is regarded as paramount and their social, moral, cultural and spiritual needs are met.

On entry to JFS, each student joins a Tutor Group, is assigned a Tutor, a Year Manager and a Director of Studies. They share responsibility for the pastoral well-being, academic progress and overall development of every student in their care and focus on the needs of every student throughout their time at the School.

Generations of families have attended JFS; many of our students meet their life partners here. Above all, students who are lucky enough to receive an education at JFS will feel part of a close family, proud of our history, clear about our future.

Whatever your child’s ability and talent, we pride ourselves in offering a programme which enables each and every child to reach their full potential.

Each student is an individual and at JFS everyone is given the opportunity to grow in a nurturing and caring environment. We look out for one another and quickly identify the individual talents of every one of our students, providing them with personal support to help them flourish.

We have a comprehensive intake and yet, over 90% of our students proceed onto 'A' Level courses in our Sixth Form. On leaving JFS, our students join the best universities the length and breadth of the United Kingdom.

Our stimulating Gifted and Talented programme is academically rigorous and challenging. Students enjoy exceptional opportunities whether engaging CEOs of blue-chip companies or studying Classical Civilisations. Our students achieve exceptional success in competitive debating, honing their skills and building their confidence.

Some students follow an accelerated academic programme in Year 7 and throughout Key Stage 3. Setting by ability is introduced for all students in subjects from Year 8 onwards to ensure maximum flexibility for each student's own development and educational achievement.

Our Special Educational Needs Department is highly professional, caring and proficient. They ensure that those students who need specific support are able to flourish.

We offer the broadest extra-curricular choice with something on offer for everyone.

The JFS vision of student support means that we care for each child’s individual needs.  These needs might range from participating in Oxbridge masterclasses to the temporary support of a Counsellor, from sessions with a Learning Mentor to guidance from a Peer Buddy. We are also extremely adept at supporting and nurturing those with a long term special educational need.
