21 JFS students have received offers from Oxbridge and Cambridge for September 2016. This is a truly phenomenal figure for any non-selective comprehensive school and represents a new JFS record. 11 students have received offers from Oxford and 10 from Cambridge with a gender split of 12 girls to 9 boys. Students have received offers for a diverse range of courses from Architecture to Veterinary Medicine.

JFS Alumnus and Paramedic, Saul Gaunt, was invited by the Medical Society to address students in Years 11 -13 interested in this field.

Year 13 student, Steven Reingold, hit the headlines this week after playing a key role in preparing English all-rounder, Ben Stokes, for his epic innings of 258 in the Second Test against South Africa in Cape Town. Steven interrupted a family holiday in South Africa to answer an ‘SOS’ from the England batting coach and Stanmore Cricket Club colleague, Mark Ramprakash. After Stokes was among the top English batsmen dismissed by off-spinner, Dane Piedt during the first Test, it was decided that Steven could assist.

The whole Sixth Form cohort at JFS welcomed Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, who is the 11th Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth.  The Chief Rabbi began his talk by stating that JFS is one of the greatest Jewish schools in the world and that he is proud of the success of the School and that our students are products of a wonderful Jewish Education.

He encouraged the students to be good Jews. Not to wait until it is too late to make a difference to the world around us and to enrich our society with good deeds.
